Sitting in PAL session this morning looking at blogs that people in the 2nd and 3rd year all made. We need to make a blog as part of our PPRD unit so thought I better start update my blog now. I just changed around the design of the blog to this cool black and neon colour background, thought it looked quitesleek whereas the layout I had before was a bit swirly and girly. From looking at the blogs the PAL's are showing us, it looks like I need to keep updating the blog about the work we're doing, loads of pictures showing how far we are getting, what we need to do etc.
Was talking to Tash today about our text and image project. Thinking about using the words "Freedom" and "Boundaries". I think you can do some cool stuff with that. First ideas, I'm thinking of maybe using the theme "Think outside the box". Thinking for the word "Freedom" maybe drawing a box with a thick black line, maybe putting the letters of freedom inside the box tightly packed together in a cool style of type, maybe one I could create but we'll see how that goes, and then have some of the letters busting out of the box. Similar thing for boundaries, but having the letters and squished up in the box, looking uncomfortable and stuck. I think that would look quite cool. What this space. I remember seeing an image on the internet a while ago when I was searching the word typography using Google, and this really cool image of a gun made purely out of letters looking really cool, but the letters made words like BANG or something similar. I'll have a look and try and find it again.
I think this image is really similar to the brief in the sense that it is using a word, "falling", similar to me using the words boundaries and freedom, and i think it explains the word using a visual image perfectly. I think it is really cool. I also like the little caption. I need to remember to ask Sally or someone if we can add a caption to our work, could be quite funky.
