Promo Print

Sorry it's been a while.

Yeah so since my last post work as been extreme, seriously hectic. We have 8 units to do within the next 2 - 3 weeks.

Promo Print - This is what I have been doing today. We have been given the brief to create a 8 page booklet about ourselves, showing a few pieces of work which we have created on the course so far. This project was given to us so that we could learn how to use the program QuarkXpress. So far I have never even been on Quark, but I have learnt how to do the basics in InDesign so I sort of new my way around the program as they seem to be really similar. We have 8 pages to create, 1 is our front cover which we need to put our name on it, and the first 2 pages needs to be a spread on a over head picture of a layout of "things in our pockets". I wasn't in that day so I still need to do that at home and place it in my Quark project. The next 2 double page spreads can be on pieces of work that we have done on the course so far. I'm thinking of doing my Letterpress work, my Poole editorial illustration, maybe my Glyphs or Visual Equations stuff but as of right now I'm not 100% sure. It has to be handed in a weeks time so I need to pick quickly to be honest. I've decided the layout of how the book is going to look, and Kit did a flat plan with us as well today, so i know the basic layout at least but I might chop and change little bits. I found a booklet I have from a bit of free lance work which I think will look wicked on this design as it is simple yet effective. Its a white background with black "paint" lines running vertically down the page, and it looks like it has been done on canvas because as the "paint" runs out coming down the page, there's loads of little black dots, looks awesome. Im going to find some really cool block typography to use in my name and titles, got 2 books out today with loads of really cool type in it called Modern Day Alphabets and Creative Typography so I'll have a really good look through. If I have enough time I would really like to make the pictures look like polaroids, and then place them into Quark, might do them in Photoshop. So far though, so good. Just need to keep on top of it.
